Attraversiamo.

Hello all! I'm excited to share that I've been accepted to serve as a Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) through the Presbyterian Church (USA) for the upcoming year.

The YAV program is an opportunity for people, ages 19 to 30, to explore their relationship to God, to the church, and their ministry in the world. I will be serving in Guatemala, though I am awaiting details as to my specific placement and responsibilities. I am so excited about the opportunity to become part of the Guatemalan community, to live simplistically, to learn and use my gifts to address social and economic injustices.

As part of my committment, I need to raise $9,000 in gifts and pledges during my year of service. I hope that you will consider making a gift or pledge toward my financial goal. My fundraising timeline is as follows:

$2,500 by July 15th
$5,000 by February 15th (2011)
$7,500 by May 15th
$9,00 by July 31st

If you or someone that you know are able to support this mission, I have attached a few documents with more infomation of how to do so. You can also send me your mailing address and I would be happy to send you more information.
It is a very humbling act to ask friends and loved ones for financial support. Please know that that is not the only way that you can support me. Please keep me and other YAV candidates in your prayers! You are also being a huge support by following this blog, keeping in touch, and sharing my story and information about the YAV program with others.
I look forward to this journey and sharing it with you.
Peace,
Laura
